POSITION SUMMARY

The CDI/Coding Analyst Coordinator is responsible for daily monitoring and follow-up all accounts identified by the DNFB Report as being deficient for documentation and clarification. This is primarily performed using the Incomplete Abstract (IA) report. The HIM --Coding and Clinical Quality Coordinator will work closely with CDI, coding, Team Leaders, Coding System Analyst, HIM leadership, HIM-Operations analysts, the Medical Staff, Finance, other various/multiple hospital departments to ensure that proper, adequate and timely documentation and charges are available to enable timely and accurate coding and billing. The Coordinator will assist with resolving accounts with coding-related DNFB/DNFC issues that are the result of missing or inadequate documentation. This information is required to generate the hospital bill and obtain reimbursement. Creates reports/ scorecards to facilitate a data driven approach, identifying priorities, gaps and opportunities to improve.

The coordinator will be the IT liaison for the coding/CDI documentation applications. The Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination, troubleshooting of coding CDI hardware/software, applications, testing/validation, training mentoring, and education of new team members/users. The Coordinator collaborates with subject matter experts to lead development of effective training to clinicians and end users to ensure optimal and most efficient use of the technology in an effort to lead to higher physician satisfaction and adoption of the technology. The coordinator is also responsible to implement mitigation strategies and escalation if an end user is challenged with adoption and/or the execution of change management. The coordinator is required to be a resource to Super Users/end users, and may provide "At-The-Elbow" (ATE) during implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives. The coordinator will monitor productivity and quality through checklists and queues. The coordinator must be able to learn new workflows and adapt the technology within a variety of applications. The Coordinator supports HIM leadership with and perform other duties as assigned. This position is also responsible coordinating and tracking denials processing related to denials to ensure deadlines are met in a timely fashion. The Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison between our customers, (i.e HIM, end users, IT, vendors, etc) and will facilitate problem solving within and between departments-processes and support.

This position also supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service and data, participating in performance improvement efforts, contributing to our financial strength and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required. Minimum 3 years HIM-deficiency analysis, and/or related hospital field/area (i.e. billing) required. Associate's Degree preferred with three years of HIM deficiency experience; OR CCS, CPC, CPC-H with three years of HIM hospital experience, preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Coding certification CCS, CPC, or CPC-H or RHIA or RHIT, preferred. Lean Six Sigma certification or participation in ARMC program, preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrates complete understanding of chart and information flow in health information management, knowledge of health information practices and procedures required. Tenacious/determined to resolve un-coded/unbilled cases very efficiently required. Excellent organizational skills to proactively prioritize work and have a keen ability to multi-task required.

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills required. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail required. Strong analytical skills and ability to comprehend and analyze large quantities of operational data required. Proficient use standard office equipment and information systems. (PowerChart, 3M, STAR/McKesson, Auditing Software, Iodine) required. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Office, PowerPoint, cloud and web based functionality, Microsoft Teams required. Previous Cerner experience preferred.

Medical Terminology courses preferred.

Ability to demonstrate competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires repetitive motion, hearing, pushing, reaching, and reading, seeing, speaking, standing and walking a majority of the time. Spends time with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Occasional driving also required.
