POSITION SUMMARY

The Barista works in the campus coffee shop responsible for every aspect of the coffee shop - merchandising/stocking products, waiting on customers, taking customer payments, maintaining a clean, safe, attractive area. This individual promotes excellent customer service, demonstrates excellent merchandise knowledge and is competent making specialty coffee products.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

EXPERIENCE: Experience working with the public, particularly in a restaurant, specialty coffee retail store or coffee shop preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires the ability to walk, stand and reach for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with assistance. Good hand/eye coordination also required. Requires working in potentially adverse conditions, such as: wet floors, hot equipment, and with hot foods and liquids. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Food Services Supervisor.
