Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Maintains responsibility for various accounting functions.
- Provides financial information to their supervisor and others to ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports are issued on a timely basis.
- Oversees the plant fund accounting functions.
- Determines plant fund and current fund expenditures to be capitalized and records capitalization entries to the general ledger.
- Records and reconciles disposals of equipment.
- Maintains a construction status report which involves reconciling the plant fund general ledger and subsidiary ledger.
- Prepares monthly plant fund financial statements.
- Coordinates with the Hospital and MCI for the capitalization process at year-end.
- Prepares all year-end physical plant schedules for external auditors.
- Oversees the activity and reports on the retirement of indebtedness fund.
- Bond principal and interest payments.
- Approves certain payment requisitions and direct pay requests for the Controller.
- Reviews financial statement schedules for accuracy.
- Ensures that all applicable accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
- Assists all accountants and departments as needed.
- Prepares schedules for external auditors.
- Maintains responsibility for the Unclaimed Property processes, reporting and remittances.
- Maintains responsibility for Health Plan reconciliation and monthly financial statements.
- Assists the Controller with special projects and initiative as they arise.
- Supervises Accounting Clerk(s) and junior accountants on items related to plant and payment of utilities; remits monthly utilities taxes.
- Uses the calculator and personal computer in all of the above duties.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
