Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Career Navigator is committed to assisting each student to reach their full potential while providing a person-centered experience that prioritizes agency, engagement, and preparedness to live an abundant life. Using the principles of Life Design, the career navigator supports students in imagining and designing meaningful lives and careers through early discovery, ongoing exploration, and skill development.
  1. Career Advising (50%): Using both formal and informal life and career design tools to provide individual counseling, coaching, and advising to students. Assists students in making well-informed career choices, experiential education, and employment decisions. Capture engagement data in Handshake and provide reports to the Director as requested. Refer students to technology solutions and personnel as appropriate.
  2. Programming (20%): Support the planning and execution of signature programs and workshops. Deliver customized presentations about LCDI priorities. Will be responsible for teaching one or more sections of the First-Year Experience Lab and providing administrative and programmatic support to the Director of Life and Career Navigation.
  3. Supervision of student employees (15%): The Life and Career Design Institute utilizes student employment as a form of experiential learning and as a mechanism to extend the reach and capacity of the office. This role will develop and assess learning objectives and student employee success.
  4. Other Duties (15%): Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Required


Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education, or related industry preferred

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $50,000 – $55,000.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.
