Job Purpose:

Manage the commercial controlling functions of UK and Ireland, be the business partner to the CEO Ireland and to the UK and Ireland senior management team. Participate in designing and implementing controlling strategies, financial and non-financial KPI planning, analysis and management. Controlling focus on efficient and effective financial management of products, stations, service centers for existing business as well as new business. Support all areas of business as the deputy of the subregional CFO. Monitor and advise on market and economic trends.


Key Tasks:

  • Responsible for overseeing financial planning and analysis, ensuring that commercial activities align with the company's financial goals.
  • Analyze and monitor the performance of commercial operations, including revenue generation, cost management, and profitability.
  • Lead the budgeting process for commercial activities, develop forecasts, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and insights to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and trends.
  • Month-end closing activities, reviews, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Monitor sales pipeline and new business awards, including award timing, volume, start of business, and ship-to profile. Closely cooperate with the sales team to get the latest information on business wins and losses.
  • Collect market data, review and analyze. Link economic and market information to DGF UK and IE business.
  • Manage monthly P&L/BS reviews, variance analysis, and provide guidance to the business regarding financial steering and optimization.
  • Monitor, measure, and take action on company, product, and station profitability, productivity, and key operational KPIs.
  • Be the deputy of the subregional CFO, the business partner to the Ireland CEO, and work closely with the UK and Ireland senior management team, as well as middle management, including station managers and function heads.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Manage business integration projects and actively support the inorganic growth agenda.
  • Responsible for service center controlling and financial management, including detailed P&L analysis, volume and rate impact, acting as the contact point for operations, and implementing improvements.
  • Business case management, review, and assessment, including financial calculation.
  • As a senior manager, actively contribute to EOS activities and support overall team engagement.
  • Keep up to date on the latest trends, policies, and regulations.
  • Provide training to stakeholders and peers.

  • Manage 5-10 experienced professionals located in Ireland and UK
  • Keep high engagement of own team and within the wider finance team
  • Influence others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with business leaders across DHL
  • Cooperate with and coordinate 3rd party stakeholders e.g. external service providers
  • Advise customers and key stakeholders on processes, systems and tools
