Basic Purpose

Responsible for developing and implementing the Company’s natural disaster protection plan (NDPP) investment programs and projects to ensure that the risk of potential fires or other natural disasters are mitigated in a cost effective, reasonable, and prudent manner


Responsibilities


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs all NDPP funded and related projects to ensure delivery of those projects within the set schedules, budgets, and scopes as committed to with all stakeholders.

Ensures that appropriate controls are in place to drive business planning, financial management and regulatory recovery of capital and O&M budgets allocated to execute specific program recommendations.

Directs the development and implementation of quantitative and qualitative assessment tools to best allocate resources to the highest priority projects that result in the highest benefit for all stakeholders.

Ensures the appropriate and timely deployment of engineering and analytical resources to assess existing solutions and evaluates emerging technologies that may be deployed in ongoing mitigation efforts.

Develops and implements regulatory and legislative strategies to maximize the effectiveness of the program.

Presents to all stakeholder on programmatic details in response to NDPP related requests, regulatory items, and other internal and external communications. Testifies on behalf of the Company in regulatory proceedings.

Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited school and 10 years of related experience with at least 8 years of supervisory or project management experience required.

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 14 years of related work experience with at least 8 years of supervisory or project management experience required.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Managing and implementing all aspects of new and large programs with emphasis on risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Regulatory requirements from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN), Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other applicable local, state and federal regulatory framework.
  • Electric delivery operations, maintenance, and engineering program processes and procedures.
  • Financial budgeting and planning
  • Working experience in compliance, auditing and quality assurance practices.

Demonstrated skills such as:

  • Analytical, problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal and communication.
  • Written and verbal communication to all levels of management and external regulators.
  • Project and process management.
  • Influence and collaboration skills to achieve understanding, acceptance and commitment to act in support of ideas, programs or causes.
  • The ability to initiate, develop, and execute on strategic plans

Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working in both office environment and outdoor weather conditions, and near extreme heat. Some exposure to loud noises may be required. Travel could be in 10-20% within the NV Energy service territory or as required for business and industry meetings.
