The responsibilities of this position will be focused on the development and growth of ferroic and piezoelectric materials for RF applications. Experience with the use and maintenance of growth systems (e.g. LPE, PLD, Czochralski, etc...) and crystal characterization (eg. XRD, AFM, etc...) is desired. Additionally, candidates should have an interest in exploring and understanding how growth and crystal properties influence electronic, mechanical, and magnetic multi-physics behaviors including ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity. This work will include collaboration with multiple scientists of different backgrounds to impact cutting edge DoD technology development. As such, exceptional teamwork and communication skills are required for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Research on Material Development: Lead and participate in research projects focused on the development and growth of ferroic and piezoelectric materials specifically tailored for RF applications.
- Operate and Maintain Growth Systems: Use and maintain advanced material growth systems such as Liquid Phase Epitaxy (LPE), Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD), and Czochralski methods to produce high-quality crystals.
- Perform Crystal Characterization: Utilize characterization techniques like X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to analyze crystal structures and properties.
- Explore Multi-Physics Behaviors: Investigate and understand the influence of growth conditions and crystal properties on electronic, mechanical, and magnetic behaviors, including ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity.
- Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with scientists from various disciplines to drive innovation and contribute to Department of Defense (DoD) technology development.
- Data Analysis and Problem Solving: Analyze experimental data using specialized software, solve complex research problems, and develop new methodologies as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Synthesize research findings, prepare detailed reports, and present results to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Minimum MS in electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields.
