We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Field Technology. This role offers flexible hybrid work options from one of our office locations in Arkansas, Maine, Missouri or Oklahoma, or remotely from anywhere in Texas.

The Senior Manager, Field Technology is a pivotal leadership role responsible for advancing Summit’s operational technology landscape. This position manages assigned strategic initiatives that optimize, integrate, and modernize field-facing platforms-including SAP FSM, Lemur, and emerging systems-ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and operational excellence. Reporting to senior leadership, the Senior Manager serves as the principal conduit between Field Operations and IT driving high-value outcomes across the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Identify long-term technology opportunities that support workforce efficiency, safety, customer satisfaction, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive a continuous feedback loop between field execution, IT capability and development needs.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to define operational objectives for field technologies and translate them into measurable KPIs aligned with corporate strategy.
  • Develop business cases including ROI analysis for significant technology enhancements.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, innovative Field Technology Operations team with a strong emphasis on accountability.
  • As a subject matter expert, keep stakeholders informed on technology related needs and trends. Participate in initiatives that support continuous improvement focus.
  • Partner closely with leadership, governance committees, and field operations to prioritize and accelerate business-driven initiatives.
  • Provide oversight of field technology projects, ensuring agile execution and measurable business impact.
  • Champion the seamless integration, testing, and deployment of key field technologies with minimal disruption to field operations.
  • Drive business case development, requirements gathering, and stakeholder alignment for critical projects.
  • Institute robust QA/QC and data quality standards for team and system performance.
  • Support and coordinate change management efforts, communicating the value proposition of new tools and processes across the organization.
  • Promote continuous learning through the development of enterprise-wide training strategies, knowledge hubs, and workshop initiatives.
  • Report on key metrics, risk assessments, and adoption rates.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years leading large-scale field technology or operations system implementations.
  • Experience managing high-performing, cross-functional teams in matrixed environments.
  • Direct experience with SAP FSM or similar enterprise field systems is highly preferred.
  • Proven success influencing stakeholders and delivering transformational initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES  

  • Expertise in utility operations, field technologies, and business systems integration.
  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to deliver operational technology initiatives with measurable ROI.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Deep project management proficiency with agile or hybrid methodologies.
  • High analytical acuity and ability to translate business strategies into scalable technical solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data visualization platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex projects.
