Crane/Hoist Maintenance Technician - Military veterans preferred

Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Service Manager, with little or no supervision, the employee shall perform highly skilled work in the repairing, reconditioning, testing, installing and adjusting of all equipment sold by Starr & Company, Inc. Primary types of equipment that technician will be working on: hoists and cranes. Potential equipment that technician would be working on: air compressors, air dryers, boilers, burners, hot water heaters, and/or booster pumps. This position will have travel opportunities (company paid).

Essential Functions:
1. Perform diagnostic test on various hoists and cranes.
2. Remove, install, repair and recondition parts/components to various hoist and crane equipment.
3. Troubleshoot repair, install and recondition electrical controls, panels and power supply on equipment.
4. Perform OSHA inspections and determine if equipment can be passed or failed.
5. Must be able to meet flat rate as established by industry standards
6. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education, Experience, and Skill Required:
1. Must have a High School diploma or have a GED.
2. Must read, write, and speak English.
3. Must own hand tools that are suitable to perform the work noted above.
4. Must have a valid Hawaii Drivers License, with good driving record.
5. Must be forklift certified or able to be certified within 60 days of hire.
6. 3 years of experience preferred. Will offer additional on-the-job training.

Physical Demands:
1. Walking: Moves on foot often. Sometimes up and down stairs.
2. Handling: Seizes, helps or works with hands.
3. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment(s) and components to 50 lbs.
4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing: Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Vision: Read computer and paperwork.
8. Talking: Communications by phone and in person.

Environmental Conditions:
1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temperature & Weather: Works in interior and exterior environments.
