Position Title: SERVICE ADVISOR

Location: Dallas / Fort Worth - Ft Worth, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

Identify the specific needs of AK Steel Technicians and provide solutions that ensure profitability through total customer satisfaction. This position will also be responsible for the daily activities within Green Coil (GC). Ensures quality of workmanship and that jobs are completed within the parameters of time and quote. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Read catalogs or computer displays in order to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.
  • Determine replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers' descriptions of malfunctions.
  • Receive and fill telephone orders for parts.
  • Fill customer orders from stock.
  • Prepare parts counter tickets/slips.
  • Receive payment or obtain credit authorization.
  • Take inventory of stock.
  • Advise technicians on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
  • Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective parts or refund money.
  • Mark and store parts in stockrooms according to prearranged systems.
  • Discuss use and features of various parts, based on knowledge of machines or equipment.
  • Measure parts, using precision measuring instruments, in order to determine whether similar parts may be machined to required sizes.
  • Distribute internal shuttle shipment on incoming parts transfers.
  • Ensures that his/her team performs with a positive attitude and a great sense of urgency in order to exceed customer expectations.
  • Answer, prioritize, and respond to service inquiries on AKS equipment. Also communicates with customers on the status of repairs/inquiries daily.
  • Keep availability log for all coil tractors.
  • Coordinates GC by creating work orders and assigning technicians. Reviews work in progress daily and communicate with technicians regarding outstanding work orders using the ERP system.
  • Collect information on customer disputes/complaints and forward to the Branch manager for review.
  • Report work order aging and work in process for technicians to the Branch Manager. Confers with Branch Manager to recommend changes for continued process improvement.
  • Available for after-hours emergency service calls.
  • Works with service technicians to determine labor repair requirements to provide customers best repair value and Equipment Depot reasonable revenue.
  • Knowledgeable of the internal operation system and uses the tools available to create quotes. Ensures quotes are done promptly and are accurate, complete, and follow reasonable repair guidelines regarding parts, labor hours, and sublet repairs (as required). Develops procedures for tracking quote approval, subsequent parts orders, and establishing repair schedules (working with the Branch Manager).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: One to two years related experience and extensive knowledge of heavy equipment repair procedures and techniques.
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge and abilities of Microsoft Office products and knowledge of service software relating to quoting, scheduling, and invoicing
