Position Summary

The Production Team Leader is the process owner of packaging and production areas and responsible for overseeing daily production operations. They ensure that safety, quality, and production goals are met while leading and training a team of operators and technicians. This role requires strong management skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Production Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate operations to meet shift production schedules.
  • Monitor workflow, resource allocation, and production output to ensure efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during production and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee production orders, pending orders, material control, and on-time delivery.
  • Report key performance indicators (KPIs) and escalate issues to management when necessary.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, train, and mentor packaging and production team members to improve performance and morale.
  • Conduct regular shift meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and safety procedures.
  • Provide employees with performance feedback and support employee development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of team member attendance/time off and performance.

Quality, Compliance, and Safety:

  • Ensure all products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Adhere to and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in the regulatory inspections and audits to maintain compliance with industry regulations.
  • Apply a disciplined approach to ensuring conformance to medical device regulations, clean and maintain production equipment standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives to optimize production flow.
  • Collaborate with other departments to drive operational excellence.

Management Responsibilities

This position supervises or oversees the following positions on a daily basis.

The average of 15+ Production Technicians and/or Logistics Technicians

WORK Environment/Physical Attributes

  • Shift-based schedule (with weekends and holidays as required).
  • Work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Comply with the Medical Devices Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Ensure safety of manufacturing processes to protect employees from work-related harm (zero-accident mentality).
  • Standing for long periods and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Training development and execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computer-managed workflow.
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of FDA requirements, ISO 13485:2016 requirements, Health Canada, and MDD/MDR requirements.
  • Basic understanding of dental implants and implantable products.
  • Basic knowledge of FDA requirements.
  • Working knowledge of SAP production environment.
  • Participation in the regulatory audits.
