Description

The IACS*-accredited UCM Counseling Center provides mental health services to students, as well as outreach and consultation to the campus community. *International Accreditation of Counseling Services.

Duties include: Provide direct clinical service to students (initial consultation, suicide risk assessment, crisis management, brief individual, couples, and group therapy), both in-person and via tele-mental health; complete accurate and timely documentation; provide outreach and psychoeducation; provide consultation to the campus community; participate in staff meetings and projects; provide after-hours/on-call services, if needed; provide supervision for staff clinicians, if needed and qualified; and engage in professional development to earn/maintain licensure.

Examples of Duties

Direct clinical services - 65%

  • Conduct initial consultations and triage assessments
  • Conduct suicide risk assessments.
  • Manage crises and psychiatric emergencies.
  • Provide treatment recommendations.
  • Provide referrals and resources.
  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling.
  • Provide supervision for clinician(s) seeking licensure, if qualified.
Clinical support responsibilities - 15%
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation
  • Provide internal clinical consultation.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
Provide outreach and consultation - 15%
  • Provide outreach, psychoeducation, and consultation to campus community .
  • Provide after-hours/on call services if needed.

Engage in continual professional growth and learning - 5%
  • Complete continuing education, exams, and other requirements to earn/maintain licensure.
  • Engage in activities for continual professional development.
  • Complete Counseling Center projects as assigned and as needed.


Typical Qualifications

Education:
  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or in a related field that meets criteria for Missouri state licensure as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marital & Family Therapist (LMFT) required.
  • Doctorate degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or related field that meets criteria for Missouri state licensure as Psychologist preferred.
  • APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at a university/college counseling center is desirable but not required.
Experience:
  • One (1) year relevant clinical experience required.
  • Two (2) or more years relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience in a university/college counseling center preferred.

Special Working Conditions:
  • 10-month position - works August 1 through May 31 each year. Insurance benefits are for 12 months.
