The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient, high-quality production of meals for senior nutrition, child nutrition, and military nutrition programs. This role supervises kitchen staff, manages workflow, ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines and specific nutritional standards, and maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment. The ideal candidate has experience in high-volume production, strong leadership skills, and a keen understanding of specialized dietary requirements for diverse populations.
Key Responsibilities:Â
- Supervise daily kitchen operations to ensure timely and accurate preparation and packaging of meals for senior nutrition, child nutrition, and military programs.
- Ensure all meals meet specific program requirements, including portion sizes, nutrient content, dietary restrictions, and regulatory compliance (e.g., USDA, FDA, state/local guidelines).
- Lead and direct kitchen staff in preparation, cooking, portioning, and packaging of meals in a high-volume production environment.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including HACCP protocols, GMPs, and company policies.
- Monitor production processes to maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency while minimizing waste.
- Inspect kitchen areas, equipment, and storage facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper food handling, safety protocols, production methods, and program-specific meal requirements.
- Review production schedules and assign tasks to staff to ensure seamless operations and timely order fulfillment.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and quality control records as required by company and regulatory agencies
- Participate in receiving and inspecting deliveries for quality and accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, quality, and employee engagement.
- Order product, supplies and unit related items as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:Â
- High School diploma or equivalent; additional culinary, food science, or food production training preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume food production, institutional kitchen, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of dietary standards and regulatory requirements for senior, child, and military meal programs, including USDA and other relevant guidelines.
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, recipes, and nutritional specifications.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer skills for production documentation and communication.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred:
- ServSafe or other recognized food safety certification.
- Experience working with government-funded nutrition programs (e.g., Child Nutrition Programs, Senior Meals under Title III, Military contract food services).
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a food production environment, with exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels.
- Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedules.

Weight Lifting/Exertion:
- Under 1/3: Up to 50 lbs.
