Leidos is seeking a to contribute to cutting-edge engineering efforts within the Maritime System Solutions (MSS) Portfolio of our Maritime Systems Division (MSD). This role is a unique opportunity to drive innovation in underwater vehicle systems, maritime sensors, subsea telemetry, and ISR solutions that support critical defense and national security missions

The selected candidate will be part of an elite, top notch group responsible for development, manufacture and test of electro-mechanical devices for use with Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) and other undersea systems and maritime mission applications. This individual will work closely with the government-industry engineering team through all project phases.

This position will require the candidate to hold a Secret Clearance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operation and maintenance of government owned vessels, primarily a 44’ RHIB with a full cabin, dual inboard Cummins QSM11 670hp engines with twin HTX30 Hamilton jets
  • Control of shipboard Hazmat and other materials needed for daily operation and maintenance
  • Provide on-site support at San Clemente Island for periods ranging from 1 day to 2 weeks during large test events or demonstrations
  • Provide general tasking support on base at NIWC Pac Bayside including, but not limited to shipping/receiving, warehouse maintenance, and equipment repair as required
  • On-call for emergencies related to small boat operations during test events

Basic Qualifications.

  • US Navy Small Boat Coxswain Certification
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience operating US Navy small boats 10m or greater
  • Experience operating a small boat with US Navy divers using SCUBA or surface supply
  • Experience operating small boats during UUV/USV operations
  • Familiarity with USCG regulations including Navigation Rules of the Road
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to work in small, collaborative teams comprised of both contractor and government engineers and technicians
  • Must be flexible and responsive to customer needs
  • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools such as electric drills, saws, landscaping tools, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • US Citizenship
  • Currently holds a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications.

  • 15 years’ experience operating US Navy small boats 10m or greater
  • Experience operating and maintaining RHIBs with both inboard and outboard engines
  • Experience with Cummins QSM11 670hp engines with twin HTX30 Hamilton jets

Pay Range:

Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00
