Oversee the development and administration of a school/unit’s financial planning activities and processes. Provide specialized analysis, reporting and guidance to clients and staff.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Organizational Context: Campus Services provides essential services to the Harvard community. The 14 Campus Services departments have approximately 1,800 active employees (70% of staff are represented by eight unions) and a combined annual budget of more than $700 million. These departments provide stewardship, strategic support, and client/customer services in the areas of buildings and facilities, graduate housing, capital projects, sustainability, parking, engineering and utilities, dining, hospitality and events management, and international support.
The Campus Services Finance & Administration Department (CSFA) provides accounting, financial analysis, budgeting and planning, procurement, taxes and financial administrative support services to the Campus Services business units and the customers they serve. The organization is comprised of 3 main functions: Controller, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Procurement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Manager supports the Harvard University Dining Services (HUD) portfolio and provides direction & leadership in all financial areas including budget preparation, multi-year financial planning, monthly and annual financial reporting, financial analysis, and business analysis. This position interacts regularly in a consultative role with senior management in the business units and financial partners around the University. The financial manager is expected to be an invested partner to unit leadership and to stay abreast of and help further the unit’s mission.

Working Conditions:
This position is expected to have an on-campus presence an average of approximately 2 days per week to promote face-to-face interaction with team members and clients. Any remote work should be performed in Massachusetts or in compliance with Harvard’s Out of State Employment Policy.

Work Format Details
This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
