Position: AI Policy Fellow (Part-time)
Description:
Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence seeks part-time AI Policy Fellows at 50% duty time to work with Princeton faculty on research that can inform federal and state government AI policy initiatives. Responsibilities:Work with Princeton faculty starting between October 2025 and January 2026 on research related to AI Policy and federal and state AI policy initiatives. This is a 5-month appointment, with possible extensions.Tasks may include but not limited to:*Researching risk management, safety, and auditing.*Contribute to technical tools that assess how various AI models are working on different tasks.*Preparing AI opportunity/risk/threat assessments with faculty and government experts.*Supporting AI/ML evaluations.*Communicating technical AI knowledge to develop best practices.*Advising faculty and agency leadership on AI policy.*Explaining AI concepts to diverse audiences.*Building coalitions for responsible AI implementation.Part-time AI Policy Fellows will give a seminar at Princeton and contribute to the intellectual life of the university and the AI Lab.Eligibility:While successful candidates may not meet all of these requirements, we are looking for:*Seven or more years of work experience or postgraduate study in artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer science or engineering, AI product policy, or other relevant technology fields.*Tech savvy or socio-technical expertise, with experience working in or studying in the technology industry or the public interest technology sector.*Advanced technical ability and training.*Great interpersonal and communication skills.*Ability to work with cross-sector stakeholders from industry, academia, civil society, government, among others.*Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.*Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity in a rapidly evolving issue space.Appointment will require an advanced or professional degree.The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. Part-time AI Policy Fellows will be appointed as Professional Specialists, through the Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and will receive competitive compensation. Expected Salary Range: $72,500 - $80,000 annually

The posted salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate for a full-time position; salaries for part-time positions are pro-rated accordingly.
