EEG TECHNICIAN (PRN) - Military veterans preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs Electroencephalography studies that are of high technical quality.

• Verifies Order
• Explains procedure to patient
• Performs “set-up” for testing
• Checks electrode impedance (must be < 5000 ohms)
• Performs machine (square-wave) calibration procedure
• Performs biological calibration
• Documents pertinent data acquired during the test: eyes open, eyes closed, etc.
• Performs activation procedures
• Attempts to have portion of EEG recorded during sleep
• Ensures at least 30 minutes of data have been obtained
• Unhooks patient, cleans patient’s head, electrodes, and room
• Bedside EEG’s are performed in patients’ rooms utilizing same protocol
• Maintains documentation and billing for all electroencephalograms          

Performs EKG’s and maintains documentation and billing for EKG’s.

Assists in Pulmonary Rehabilitation 2 days/week. Maintains patient safety and Infection Control by observing gym, and wiping down equipment. Assists with paperwork as needed.

Assists in Respiratory Care department with answering phone, scanning, filing, etc. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and hospital policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. 

Seeks to enhance skills and knowledge by attending seminars, independent study, etc. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: 

Minimum of one year clinical experience in adult EEG’s required.  Registered EEG technician through ABRET and/or eligibility preferred.   BLS certification required.
