Pitt-Bradford is hiring a new Admissions Counselor to support our student-recruitment team in the Office of Admissions. This is an entry-level, full-time position where you’ll work under the leadership of the Director of Admissions and Associate VP of Enrollment Management. The ideal applicant will have an understanding of and dedication to the mission of higher education!

Salary: $40,000/year

Duties: As an Admissions Counselor, you will:

-Counsel prospective students and their families

-Answer questions about academic programs, college selection, financial assistance, and application process

-Travel off-campus for recruiting events

-Monitor and review applications for admissions

-Become proficient with admissions-related communication platforms (Such as Salesforce and Marketingcloud)

-Manage incoming emails, phone calls, and web-based inquiries

-Creatively and strategically communicate to reach underserved communities

Requirements: Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree, ideally in communication, marketing, management, or HR, and one to two years of relevant experience. New graduates may be able to use extensive extra-curricular or on-campus activities as a substitute for working experience. A willingness to travel is required. Advanced digital literacy in word processing, site management, and database management will be helpful. An energetic and confident team-player will excel in this role!

Job Summary

Prepares, processes, maintains, and provides information regarding student admissions records and/or reports. Participates in recruitment activities and projects.


Essential Functions
  • Corresponds and interacts with prospective students, applicants, University alumni, guidance counselors, and others seeking information on admissions standards, academic and non-academic programs, and student activities following established procedures and precedents.
    Assists with coordinating admission of students to educational programs of the University. Conducts on-campus interviews of prospective students and their parents.
    Reviews documentation of undergraduate, graduate, and/or transfer students to ensure completeness of applications. Monitors progress of applicants.
    Supports recruitment activities. Coordinates processing, mailings, and other related documentation.
    Visits secondary schools, junior colleges, and other educational institutions within assigned areas as appropriate based on review of historical and market data, and input from supervisor; conducts meetings with prospective students, guidance counselors, and student service agencies; represents the University to local, state, and national admissions and related organizations.
    Assists in training and orientation sessions for members of the Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee, guidance counselors, and other officials to ensure active alumni recruitment of students and continuing secondary school, junior college, and other educational institution relations following established procedures.

Physical Effort

Must be able to carry quantities of Admission publications and other materials to a variety of urban and suburban sites, and set up displays. The position is dynamic and mobile. Driving for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours), lifting recruitment materials (up to 50 lbs), climbing stairs, standing for 2-4 hours and some walking.
