Job Summary

Oversees and/or manages all aspects of the project and/or multiple programs assigned to a specific country. Responsible for the development and execution of project work products, to include but not limited to program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products as identified. Represent IREX inside the country or region.

The Early Grade Technical Advisor plays a strategic and integrative role in advancing early-grade education reform in Jordan. With over a decade of experience as a teacher, content developer, and curriculum specialist, the Advisor will collaborate with university faculty to co-design and enhance undergraduate programs in early-grade education. This includes developing course syllabi, instructional materials, practicum frameworks, and assessment portfolios that align with national priorities and international accreditation standards (e.g., CAEP).

The Advisor will lead cross-cutting efforts in literacy, numeracy, and early childhood education, embedding inclusive pedagogies, educational technologies, and AI-powered tools to modernize teacher preparation and improve student outcomes.

Performs additional duties and tasks to meet the needs of the organization, team, or as assigned by manager.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Pedagogical Expertise: Early-grade literacy and numeracy instruction, child development, inclusive and differentiated pedagogy
  • Curriculum Design: Syllabus development, authentic assessment, portfolio-based evaluation, alignment with CAEP and national standards
  • Faculty Collaboration: Co-designing courses, mentoring faculty, facilitating peer review, building institutional capacity
  • Digital & AI Integration: Educational technology tools (Canva, Prezi, LMS), AI-powered learning design, digital portfolios
  • Data & Assessment: Analysis of EGRA, IDELA, national exams; Excel dashboards, Power Query, SPSS
  • Strategic Leadership: Stakeholder engagement, policy literacy, institutional agility, visionary planning
  • Communication & Facilitation: Bilingual fluency, workshop delivery, empathetic and precise communication

Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Numeracy, or a closely related field is required; a PhD is preferred
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in early-grade education, including teaching, curriculum development, and faculty collaboration
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing undergraduate education programs
  • Strong understanding of Jordanian and international early-grade education systems
  • Experience supervising practicum and mentoring pre-service teachers
  • Fluent in Arabic; proficient in English
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization to work in Jordan

Your Daily Tasks

  • Co-develop comprehensive, standards-aligned course syllabi and materials for bachelor-level early-grade education programs (Grades KG–3)
  • Integrate best practices in literacy, numeracy, and child development across course content
  • Ensure alignment with Jordan’s Education Strategic Plan and international frameworks (e.g., CAEP)
  • Embed inclusive, differentiated instruction and culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Design authentic, portfolio-based assessment tasks that foster autonomy and reflection
  • Design and lead workshops for university faculty on curriculum design, instructional innovation, and assessment strategies
  • Mentor faculty in integrating educational technologies and AI tools into course delivery
  • Support faculty in implementing practicum supervision and mentorship models
  • Facilitate peer review protocols and iterative improvement cycles for course refinement
  • Lead the development of practicum frameworks, rubrics, and student teacher portfolios
  • Collaborate with MoE and universities to strengthen field-based learning and supervision
  • Use national assessment data (e.g., EGRA, IDELA, national exams) to refine practicum activities and course content
  • Promote reflective practice and real-world application through structured feedback systems
  • Provide technical assistance to MoE specialists, curriculum developers, and supervisors in embedding foundational skills instruction
  • Contribute to strengthening policy frameworks related to teacher licensing, CPD standards, and early-grade curriculum reform
  • Participate in national and institutional learning initiatives to promote continuous improvement
  • Align diverse stakeholder priorities into actionable strategies for institutional change
  • Introduce AI-enhanced learning platforms and digital tools to personalize teacher preparation
  • Develop multimedia resources and interactive content using platforms like Canva, PowerPoint, and Prezi
  • Foster data-driven decision-making through advanced analytics using Excel, SPSS, and other tools
  • Institutionalize innovation through digital repositories and Teacher Excellence Centres
  • Other support duties as needed.
