Responsibilities

The RN Lactation Specialist provides assessment, assistance, and support of infant nutrition, particularly breastfeeding, to infants, adult and adolescent mothers, and families.  The Specialist provides education to staff and physicians, as well as to the community.  The Specialist works closely with physicians and staff, and promotes collaboration and communication.  The Specialist participates effectively in the daily operations of both inpatient and outpatient care.



Qualifications

Education:

As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.

 

Skills:

Demonstrated ability of expert interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community.

Demonstrated ability to teach effectively.

Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
