Pay Range

$111,400.00-$153,200.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Indirect Tax Manager to be located in Denver, CO. This position reports to our Director of Tax. The Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing key tax functions including sales and use tax, property tax, and administration of business incentives. This role ensures compliance, supports tax planning, and partners with internal teams to manage tax-related risks and opportunities.

Ideal candidate will be a proven indirect tax professional with a results orientation. An ability to effectively work across the organization with all levels of employees is a must along with a proven ability to delegate.

Our office is in downtown Denver on 17th St. and California (717 17th St.) We are a hybrid work environment; two days work remote and three days in the office.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Manage U.S. sales and use tax and Canadian GST compliance, ensuring accurate and timely filing of returns and payments. Conduct tax research and planning as needed to support compliance and business operations.
  • Assist business units in acquiring and maximizing incentives on new capital additions - also responsible for process administration.
  • Manage all phases of sales and use tax audits—including reverse audits —with responsibility for documentation and settlement negotiations.
  • Strengthen business partnerships by delivering targeted sales and use tax training to internal teams—focused on the tax implications of purchases and customer transactions.
  • Maintain and manage Thomson Reuters Indirect Tax Compliance Software, ensuring data accuracy, timely updates, and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Supervise a team of two salaried employees, including performance management, hiring, and resource allocation.
  • Manage third-party CPA firm relationship on property tax, sales and use tax audits, and special projects, ensuring effective support and timely resolution of business needs.
  • Responsible for property tax accruals and payments.
  • Act as a liaison for global VAT tax compliance.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 7 years of sales and use tax experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Master of Tax (MST) and/or CPA preferred.
  • Proven ability to research complex tax issues and resolve audit findings.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentoring, training, and building team expertise. Promotes a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and cross-functional knowledge sharing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Prior exposure to property tax and business incentives is preferred.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters Indirect Tax Compliance Software preferred.
