Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Moodle Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for supporting the establishment, configuration, migration and ongoing Operations and Maintenance of eLearning content for our federal customer, supporting a user base of up to 100,000 users. This role blends technical engineering, system integration, development, Tier 3 support, and security best practices to deliver a secure, scalable, and high-performing eLearning environment.

Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end integration of Moodle Workplace with enterprise systems, APIs, identity management, and third-party tools to ensure seamless functionality.
Configure and customize Moodle core settings, plugins, and themes to meet program-specific requirements.
Develop and maintain custom plugins and modules to extend Moodle capabilities, ensuring adherence to coding standards and security best practices.
Build and maintain PHP-based solutions, including custom scripts and automation for administrative tasks.
Manage Moodle database operations, schema design, query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Implement robust version control (Git) workflows for collaborative development, testing, and deployment.
Support course migration, structure course completion workflows, and automate course enrollment and reporting.
Collaborate with instructional designers to ensure learning materials, assessments, and certificates are properly configured.
Perform quality assurance testing and debugging of new courses, integrations, and platform updates before release.
Oversee server management, web server configuration (Apache/Nginx), and cloud-hosted infrastructure for scalability and high availability.
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data protection and business continuity.
Optimize platform performance, caching, and load balancing to support a large user base.
Enforce security best practices, including user authentication, role-based access control, encryption, and compliance.
Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues, providing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams to resolve incidents efficiently and prevent recurrence.
Work closely with project managers, stakeholders, and IT teams to achieve milestones within defined timelines.
Participate in cross-team reviews and technical working groups to maintain platform health and security posture.
