We are currently looking for a Maintenance/Electrical Specialist to join our team in Decatur, Illinois.    

PURPOSE OF POSITION                                       

Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Maintenance / Electrical Specialist is to provide assistance to production crews in mechanical and machine operations, building and facilities and associated equipment. The ideal candidate is responsible for preventative maintenance, ensuring spares availability, spares development, complete maintenance functions of all utilities like cranes, sand plant, compressors, grinders, cooling towers, heat exchangers, heat treatment furnaces, melting(induction) furnace, disamatic, dust collectors, shot blasting machines, machine tools and cooler classifier.

 

Task and Responsibilities: 

  • Understand the detailed operation of pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanics.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions. (AC & DC).
  • PM plant equipment mechanically & electrically.
  • Build electrical control cabinets.
  • Have understanding of PLC and how to use them for diagnosing malfunctions.
  • Able to perform repairs on electronic equipment.
  • Able to utilize oscilloscope for diagnosing electrical/electronic problems.
  • Be able to use hand tools, welder, cutting torch and electrical meters.
  • Must be able to score the above minimum required on the corporate maintenance technician test.
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Environmental, Safety and Quality Procedures, Practices and Policies.
  • Follows all LOTO procedures & conducts LOTO as needed.

 

Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Vocational technical training in mechanical related field is preferred.
  • Must have two (2) years of tech training or equivalent experience; 
  • At least one (1) year of related mechanical experience in hydraulics, electronics repair and related mechanical applications.
  • Must be able to score the minimum required on the corporate maintenance test .
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, manual conveyors, JLG man lifts, and scissor lifts is essential. 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.
  • Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.
  • Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.

Salary:

 

  • $32.00/hr – $35.00/hr depending on skills and experience
