Job Scope

The Project Manager 1 (PM1) plans, scopes, and executes small to medium New Product projects of relative risk. PM1 leads teams to achieve objectives, including implementation, while working with the Program Manager to align timelines and budgets with portfolio goals. Collaborates with Product Development to ensure quality, specifications, and design criteria are met. Plans project stages, assesses business impact, and monitors progress to meet deadlines, standards, and costs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead Core Teams to meet objectives/deadlines; communicate roles and expectations.
  • Drive team issue resolution.
  • Manage up to 5 small, low-priority projects; may handle some medium projects.
  • Ensure complete scope through input (trials, VOC) and documentation.
  • Drive Risk Management Planning throughout lifecycle.
  • Follow Phase and Gate processes; ensure deliverable integrity; lead reviews.
  • Manage project budgets to align with financial plans.
  • Ensure Design History File deliverables within Quality Management Systems.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager to secure resources.
  • Establish/manage scope, including changes.
  • Facilitate labs for customer preference, design review, and validation.
  • Maintain accurate project schedules with team, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct internal/external status meetings.
  • Escalate cross-functional issues to Program Manager.
  • Support lead engineer with design reviews, issue identification, and resolution.
  • Manage communications; report to stakeholders as needed.
  • Track lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2–3 years NPI design/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • CAPM/PMP + 5 years may substitute for degree.
  • 3+ years Project Coordination/Management in regulated durable goods required (medical, defense, high-tech, etc.).
  • Stakeholder/customer experience required; ISO & FDA knowledge preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Proven leadership of matrix teams.
  • Experience in gated project environments desired.
  • Basic knowledge: materials, manufacturing, medical device design.
  • Proficiency in communication, problem-solving, multitasking, MS Project, and collaboration tools.
