Job Summary
This position is with the Special Collections Research Center located in the Margaret I. King Library Building. This student assistant will have a hands-on role working with fragile archival materials and supporting the project through both physical preservation and digitization processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inventory of historic newspapers
  • Carefully handle and prepare fragile newspapers for digitization and long-term storage
  • Scan newspapers using appropriate equipment and techniques to preserve image quality and integrity
  • Organize, label, and store digital files according to established naming conventions and archival standards
  • Maintain accurate records of items inventoried, scanned, and stored
  • Use spreadsheets and other tools to track project progress and metadata
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • English language proficiency
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to handle fragile, rare, and special material objects with care and respect for the intrinsic value of archival materials
  • Experience with Photoshop and photography (helpful but not required)
  • Basic familiarity with spreadsheets (helpful but not required
