Role Context

To proactively manage system capacity, security, and compliance for Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, and South Africa. Ensuring that service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs) are met or exceeded. By leveraging technology-driven solutions, the role supports early benefits realization, cost optimization, and operational efficiency, enabling a smooth digital transformation within the organization.

Key responsibilities

· Effective deployments, early benefits realization by ensuring plans reflect optimized time-to-market

· Ensure that existing and new Features and Functions within core applications are maximized

· Develop realistic achievable and price conformant Service and Operational Service Level Agreements with business stakeholders and ensure back-to-back compatibility with dependent service providers

· Maintain service quality and availability ito applications, office automation and communications and ensure that infrastructure uptime is monitored in line with established SLAs and OLAs

· Deploy solutions and ensure appropriate configurations on all servers and customs related applications /servers

· Ensure business continuity via appropriate topologies, archive and recovery strategies

· Institutionalize continuous quality improvement via ongoing Root Cause Analysis and Eradication.

· Be Point of escalation in service failure situations and ensure proactive management and stakeholder communication of incidents by involving all appropriate workgroups

· Monitor and scale capacity – up and down - ahead of demand (Hardware and Communications infrastructure).

· Ensure hardware refresh policy is optimized for maximum cost effectiveness

· Implement cost effectiveness programmes and submit potential cost reduction initiatives for review and consideration

· Ensure adherence to global KPI and to report performance in line with standard reporting requirements

· Internal and external vendor and customer relationship management

· Lead or participate in global/regional initiatives as part of a virtual IT function

· Compliance to regional standards including First Choice

· Ensure maintenance and changes to scripts are processed as per business requirement

· Ensure Legal compliance through following legislated records and data management practices

· Reduce the activities in the area of Network administration, performance monitoring and tuning in association with regional BIT.

· Unix server administration (where local applications are based on Unix/Informix).

· Help Desk and Service Tickets management, including ticket reduction via root cause analysis and eradication

· Enforce IT Security Policies through training, management communications user and country IT audits

· Ensures competent, motivated, and harmonious team is recruited, retained, and developed.

· Maintains a safe and healthy environment for staff consistent with the policies and procedures of DHL.

· Developing the team’s capability and capacity.

· Establishing an environment conducive to good performance and morale and ensuring the early resolution of conflict.

· Establishing performance criteria and providing regular feedback to staff.

· Developing and fostering professional excellence and networking with other business units.

· Creating an environment in which individuals and teams perform at their best to maximize their own potential to create a win-win for both DHLE and individuals

Minimum Requirements

Education & experience

  • Relevant Degree or National Diploma

  • Min 4 + years Project Management Experience

  • Min 4 + years database experience

  • Experience in managing an internal or externally operated production systems environment

  • Customs programs experience & DHL Customs Applications Support Knowledge

  • Experience in working with Customs & Excise Technical & Operations Mandates.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)

  • Experience in managing an internal or externally operated production systems environment

  • Experience in Programs and Project management
