What You Will Do
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is highly engaged in the educational and communal work of equity-minded service and collaboration as demonstrated in our curriculum, co-curricular programming, and partnerships with the greater Metro-East and St. Louis regional communities. SIUE seeks to enhance operations in East St. Louis and strengthen collaboration across all locations particularly with operations of SIUE programs at the Southwestern Illinois Justice and Workforce Development Campus in Belleville, Illinois. This position will help the University advance its educational mission to work collaboratively to solve pressing social problems and prepare students to be change makers in the community, while developing meaningful and accessible pathways to the possibilities of higher education. Alongside the Associate Vice Chancellor for East St. Louis Educational Programming and Operations, the Assistant Vice Chancellor will have an opportunity to develop a bold vision in service of our communities and in alignment with the University's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor is a collaborative, visionary, and strategic leader who will (1) champion authentic and meaningful relations and engage the community by honoring their assets and vision; (2) develop co-curricular programming for current and future students; and (3) cultivate a pipeline of future students through programming for P-12 students and their families. The position will support the Associate Vice Chancellor in strengthening existing programs, operations and relationships while enhancing and growing connections with the communities we serve and facilitating collaboration across all SIUE locations and programs.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Advanced degree (Masters, J.D., PhD, EdD) in a relevant field of study (e.g., cultural studies, sociology, history, or related field)
At least three years of progressively responsible experience in building collaborative partnerships within an organization, ideally within a higher education setting
Strategic planning, excellent project and operation management skills, with experience translating a vision and strategy into a practical plan with concrete methods of implementation and measurable outcomes
Proven ability to conduct research on the historical context of communities, including the barriers and opportunities that impact educational outcomes
Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, in addition to the ability to maintain sensitive information in confidence
Skilled in organizing, compiling and presenting information, developing plans, and writing persuasively for diverse audiences
Proven track record of working in a networked way, emphasizing collaboration in a complex environment ability to lead a team comprised of students alongside faculty and staff
Skilled in cultivating effective working relationships within a diverse community and maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment;
Can demonstrate an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds; committed to engaging meaningfully and equitably with communities.
