Logistics & Material Handling Associate
Purpose of the Job
This role supports the efficient flow of materials and products through the warehouse and production areas. Responsibilities include shipping and receiving, packaging, inventory control, and material movement to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and production support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Incoming Materials & Inspection
• Wrap, band, and secure finished goods for shipment.
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing freight.
• Prepare and process shipping documentation (packing slips, UPS/FedEx labels, export paperwork).
• Schedule truck shipments and coordinate with carriers and customers.
• Assist with incoming inspection and cross-train in other warehouse functions.
Job Flow & Material Handling
• Pull materials from stock and deliver to machines or work areas.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Conduct cycle counts and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Train new employees and support team flexibility.
• Fill in for Warehouse Supervisor as needed.
Packaging
• Package and ship orders efficiently according to established procedures.
• Follow special handling instructions and ensure accurate order routing.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding unusual quantities or discrepancies.
Qualifications
Education & Experience - High school diploma or GED required.
3–6 months of related experience preferred; 1–3 years for packaging roles.
Skills
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders and shipping documents.
• Proficiency in basic math and metric conversions.
• Forklift certification and experience required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Demands
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs occasionally; up to 44 lbs routinely.
• Stand, walk, kneel, and sit frequently.
• Use hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials.
• Perform repetitive tasks and reach above shoulders regularly.
• Visual acuity for close work; occasional color and distance vision required.
Work Environment
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
• High noise levels; occasional peak noise above 81 dB.
• Rare risk of electrical shock or exposure to caustic chemicals.
