To build on a strong foundation of achievement and contribute to the realization of its ambitious institutional goals, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for East St. Louis Educational Programming and Operations (AVC) (AP26-022). What You Will Do
The AVC reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Key areas of focus include: SIUE's operations at the Wyvetter H. Younge Higher Education Campus in East St. Louis includes a variety of programs engaging P-12 students, local communities and other stakeholders, and collaborates with the Illinois Community College Board. This position will have the opportunity to develop a new and integrative restructure that reimagines existing programs on the East St. Louis Campus and creates greater synergy among programs, strengthens relationships with other SIUE programs and locations, and enhances community relations and impact. This position will have responsibility for oversight of programs that include Head Start and Early Head Start, performing arts programming, Project Success, and other existing and new programs. The future structure will include greater connection and a renewed focus on Charter High School (CHS) with a focus in growth in outcomes, impact, and enrollment (e.g., including improving outcomes, exploring additional supports and opportunities and partnering with Edwardsville and Belleville to offer dual credit and enrollment, etc.). Restructuring will require a bold vision that emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based practices to better serve the University and the community. The AVC must be committed to aligning educational initiatives with community needs and addressing immediate challenges with purpose, partnership, and commitment.
The AVC will also work to ensure that SIUE nurtures and grows its partnership with the Illinois Community College Board in support of the ESL site and the possibilities for higher education at the location.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the experience, skill, and excitement required to: -Develop a comprehensive strategic plan to effectively integrate programs under a single director.
Reorganize programs, ensuring they are both innovative, effective, and efficient.
Build a cohesive vision and team that can deliver results with urgency and collaborate authentically and equitably with each other and partners
Ensure excellence, accountability, and sustainability of all programs and initiatives
Develop robust policies and practices in alignment with institutional goals and expectations while honoring community assets and goals.
Build stronger relationships with SIUE's academic programs in Edwardsville, Belleville, and Alton.
Grow programming and external funding for ESL operations and expansion to meet community needs.
Improve SIUE's relationship with partners -Ensure proper coordination of the relationship with ICCB and facilities projects, per agreements
Expand educational opportunities in collaboration with Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).
Ensure effectiveness and improvement in outcomes with measurable goals and KPIs.
Demonstrate experience and capacity for excellent leadership skills required for guiding transformation.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Advanced degree (, J.D., PhD, EdD) in a relevant field of study (e.g., educational leadership, higher education, teaching and learning, curriculum and instruction, or related field)
Seven (7) or more years of progressive administrative experience with supervision/management of multiple departments/units.
Demonstrable excellent organizational and communication skills as well as a sound understanding of accounting & budgeting principles, including grant compliance and experience managing large, complex budgets
Strong track record of personnel management, grant management, budget management and P-12 compliance.
Experience in Higher Education administration and engagement with P-12 administration.
Experience in working with and building and leading a high-performing and diverse workforce.
Ability to act as liaison between program managers, directors, faculty and staff across locations, funding authorities, and university leadership.
Experience in successful grant writing and management of grant funded programs.
Commitment to build, nurture, and maintain authentic and high-impact community-university partnerships.
