As a Field Technician, you will be an integral part of our Houston-based Operations Team, responsible for the qualification, deployment, operation, and maintenance of Agellus Tank Robotics' (ATR) advanced fleet of robotic inspection and cleaning systems. You will support field operations across North America and may be called upon for international project deployments. Our robotic platforms leverage cutting-edge technology to perform critical cleaning and inspection services on Oil & Gas infrastructureâ??enhancing asset integrity while eliminating the need for manned entry. This role demands technical proficiency, field readiness, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The job activities of the Field Technician include:
- Work collaboratively with the Operations Team to deploy and operate robotic systems for the cleaning and internal inspection of storage tanks and industrial vessels.
- Follow OSHA and site-specific safety guidelines while lifting, setting up, and transporting robotic equipment and support systems weighing up to 45 lbs.
- Safely load, operate, and maneuver support vehicles, including trucks and transport vans, to and from project sites
- Conduct routine pre- and post-operation maintenance on robotic platforms, support hardware, sensors, and communication systems.
- Ensure all robotic deployments comply with established operational procedures, inspection protocols, and data quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment, ensuring all equipment and tools are properly secured and accounted for.
- Communicate clearly with the Team Lead and field crew to coordinate equipment setup, troubleshoot in-field issues, and relay operational updates.
- Complete accurate and detailed field documentation, including system checklists, inspection summaries, cleaning records, and daily activity logs.
- Support team operations by taking initiative in problem-solving, assisting with rig-up/rig-down tasks, and adapting to site conditions.
- Uphold safety and environmental protection standards at all times, strictly following lockout/tagout, confined space, and hazard control procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and abilities:
- Proficient in performing routine maintenance and basic mechanical or electrical repairs on robotic and support systems
- Experienced with hydraulic systems used in robotic deployment and cleaning operations
- Skilled in generating and maintaining accurate reports, service logs, and inspection records
- Strong understanding of procedural adherence and quality control to ensure reliable system performance
- Adaptable and responsive to changing job demands, environments, and field challenges
- Effective team player with a focus on collaboration to achieve operational goals
- Knowledgeable in occupational health and safety standards within the Oil & Gas industry, including confined space and hazardous area protocols
- Experienced in rigging and transport safety, including lifting practices, securing loads, and handling equipment during mobilization and demobilization
- Willingness and availability to travel for field projects, including remote or extended deployments
Qualifications::
- Post-secondary education or relevant field experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology (formal degree preferred but not required) Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or field-based environment, preferably in Oil & Gas or related sector
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel for field deployments
- Experience operating and supporting robotic or remotely operated systems in industrial applications (preferred)
- Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with ability to perform basic troubleshooting and field repairs
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and pressure-rated components (preferred)
- Knowledge of rigging and hoisting practices, including safe transport and handling of field equipment (preferred)
- Confined Space Entry and OSHA 10/30 certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety procedures applicable to hazardous environments
