Responsibilities
Safety
- Promote and embed DHL's culture of 'Safety First' across supply chain facilities and operations.
- Establish, communicate, and enforce DHL's safety policies and procedures in line with relevant local regulations.
- Perform the role of Fire Safety Manager and ensure fire safety requirements are adhere in accordance to the local enforcing authority and Fire code.
- Provide subject matter expertise and problem?solving solutions in the areas of safety, dangerous goods storages, emergency preparedness, risk mitigation, business contingency planning
Safety Program Development and Management
- Design and execute safety programs specific to DHL's operations.
- Support the strategic implementation of Global / APAC programs and initiatives like Behavioral Based Safety (BBS), policies, HSE bulletins, standardization of safety standards/processes, ensuring the effective and continual development of Business Continuity Management (BCM).
- Conduct site audits and inspections, risk assessments, corporate inductions, BCM, BBS and safety related training, as well as assist with Early Intervention processes, injury prevention initiatives.
- Ensure all HSE resources (documents, records, inspection checklists, GEMBA checks, Safety Folders and Safety Engagement Plans) are actively updated and maintained by Operations.
- Organize and oversee safety training sessions, ensuring they are regularly updated to meet evolving needs.
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
- Stay abreast of local safety regulations as well as DHL's global standards.
- Ensure all facilities and operations are in compliance with local safety regulations and DHL's internal standards.
- Generate and present safety performance reports, detailing metrics, incidents, and areas of concern to senior management.
Incident Management and Early Intervention
- Spearhead investigations into safety incidents, ensuring root causes are identified.
- Collaborate with APAC and local leadership stakeholders to develop and enforce corrective actions post-incident.
- Spearhead and manage Early Intervention and Injury Management processes
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with departments like HR, Operations and Business Development to ensure that safety is integrated into every facet of the workflow.
- Coordinate with local regulatory bodies and DSC APAC HSE & BCM when necessary.
- Engage with DHL's clients, suppliers, and third-party operators to align on safety expectations.
- Facilitate regular safety awareness campaigns and initiatives for employees at all levels.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor industry-specific safety trends to ensure DHL remains at the forefront of safety practices.
- Gather feedback from employees and implement strategies to address any concerns or suggestions.
- Ensure regular updates to DHL's safety programs to meet the evolving demands of the supply chain environment.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- More than 6 years of experience in safety management, ideally within a logistics or supply chain environment.
- Recognized national or international professional qualification in Health, Safety & Well-Being management as required by local enforcing authority.
- Must have valid Fire Safety Manager certification.
- Ability to travel within the country to different DHL sites and facilities if required.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive change, and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local health and safety regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is required.
- Certifications in BCMS ISO 22301:2019, Dangerous Goods, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, injury rehabilitation etc. are desirable
- Must have valid Management of Hazardous Substance License
- Must be familiar with Microsoft programs such as MS form, Excel, etc. and programs such as Power BI applications.
- May be required to work outside regular office hours in case of emergencies or incidents.
- Comfortable working in the West.
