The Richardson Lab at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified Research Assistant Professor with extensive expertise in immunometabolism and Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis. The lab focuses on the metabolic adaptations of both microbes and host cells during infection, with an emphasis on improving outcomes in MRSA infections. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in all aspects of S. aureus research, encompassing both host immune responses and bacterial physiology. Responsibilities include manipulating the host response to infection, conducting bacterial genetics, performing in vivo mouse work, tissue culture, immunohistochemistry, RNAi, and CRISPR-based genetic screens, and analyzing host cell and bacterial metabolism. A Ph.D. in biotechnology, microbiology, or a related field is required, along with a strong publication record and proven ability to lead high-level research in infectious disease and immunometabolism.
