JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Assembly Production Supervisor plays an instrumental role in achieving operational excellence within the assembly department. This key position requires a seasoned leader to oversee daily assembly operations, uphold rigorous quality standards, and spearhead continuous improvement efforts. In this role, the Supervisor will manage the assembly team ensuring efficient production processes, conducting thorough quality inspections, and optimizing workflows to meet production targets. The Supervisor will also collaborate closely with production managers to address performance issues, drive process enhancements, and ensure alignment with operational objectives.  This position offers the opportunity for a skilled leader to drive operational success, implement innovative solutions, and make a significant impact to the assembly operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and manage all facets of the assembly production process, ensuring operations are conducted efficiently, effectively, and in strict accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and contract specifications. 
  • Develop and implement detailed assembly schedules based on project requirements and resource availability, ensuring efficient and timely production processes.
  • Supervise assembly personnel, providing clear directives, assigning responsibilities, and overseeing performance to achieve production objectives and maintain operational excellence.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for subordinate staff, offering constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for skill development and training.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations to comply with OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and logistics to ensure cohesive integration of processes and the timely resolution of operational challenges.
  • Monitor and optimize assembly production workflows, resource allocation, and equipment utilization to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality while adhering to established standards.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, implement process improvements, and drive initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and meet assembly production goals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and organizational policies throughout all stages of the assembly process, cultivating a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify products meet rigorous quality standards and contractual specifications.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, calibration, optimization, and repairs on all assembly equipment to ensure optimal functionality and longevity, while evaluating needs, recommending upgrades or replacements, and ensuring consistent maintenance and calibration.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on assembly production metrics, quality control, and departmental performance, providing regular updates to management concerning production status, challenges, and achievements.
  • Foster a culture of collaborative engagement and teamwork, collaborating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and management to optimize departmental performance and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Continuously monitor and integrate the latest industry trends and best practices to enhance assembly operations, while actively engaging in professional development opportunities to ensure an advanced level of expertise and proficiency.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive understanding of assembly processes, techniques, and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, with a track record of inspiring, motivating, and guiding subordinate staff to achieve high standards of performance and excellence.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in reviewing and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and assembly specifications, with demonstrated ability to provide expert guidance and support to assembly team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact professionally with team members, management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience in the proper use, care and calibration of inspection and test equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality control and adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Mastery utilizing assembly equipment, measuring tools, and inspection devices for accurate measurements and quality assurance.
  • Ability to uphold company values and adhere to ethical standards in decision-making and daily work responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for maintaining a safe working environment in an assembly production setting.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Office Suite and production management software.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a production or manufacturing environment with at least two (2) years’ experience in a leadership role focused on assembly processes.

PREFERRED:

  • High School diploma/GED or:
    1. Vocational/technical certificate acquired post high school. 
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in a production or manufacturing environment with at least four (4) years’ experience in a leadership role focused on assembly processes.
  • Department of Defense related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, typically up to ten (10) hours per day, at least four (4) days a week, or as necessary for the role. 
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to fifty (50) pounds:      
    1. Ability to collaborate with team members to lift objects weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds safely and effectively.
  • Endurance to withstand exposure to fumes, dust, and other environmental factors commonly associated with a manufacturing plant. 
  • Strong physical stamina and dexterity for manual tasks. 
  • Aptitude for working in various physical positions, including bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read labels, safety instructions, and equipment gauges, as well as to inspect surfaces for defects or imperfections.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will be responsible for supervising all Assembly Department personnel.
