What You Will Do
Assist clinic providers with professional nursing duties, including triage and adherence to standing orders. Administer patient care with a high degree of skill, as prescribed by a provider/physician. Assists physicians/providers in the examination, procedures, and treatments of patients. This includes documentation of presenting signs/symptoms of illness or injury, vital signs, current medications, and pertinent history. Administer immunizations and injections in accordance with the orders of provider/physician and guidelines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrates understanding of the requirements of the Illinois state immunization mandate and is able to review the student immunization record for compliance. Provide documentation of medical services accurately and completely in the student's electronic medical record. This includes visit notes, procedures/treatments performed, as well as telephone medical advice, and other non-visit interactions. Provide health education for care plan, which may include education relating to the patient's illness or injury or to a behavior beneficial to good health.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
One year of professional nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
One to three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/Automatic Electronic Defibrillator certification.
Current Blood Borne Pathogen training.

About Extra Help Positions:
Extra Help job listings typically close three days after the opening date, unless specified in the closing date. Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements. Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.
Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver's License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

Additional Information: SIUE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship for this position will not be provided. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
