Function of Position:

The Economics and Workforce Development Department at Monroe Community College is seeking qualified instructor to teach one or more of the following hands-on, certification-prep courses:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
CompTIA Security+ Certification
Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate

These courses prepare students for entry-level to intermediate roles in networking and cybersecurity. Instructor will prepare and deliver instruction, assess student learning, and support student success in accordance with department and college guidelines. Classes may be taught at the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus, or via remote, hybrid, or online modalities.

*This is a part-time, temporary position

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction and facilitate student learning in assigned course(s)
  • Design lesson plans and hands-on lab activities that align with course objectives and certification standards
  • Assess and evaluate student performance using a variety of instructional methods and assessment tools
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and course documentation
  • Provide timely feedback and mentorship to students
  • Support department efforts related to student retention and completion
  • Utilize MCC's learning management system (e.g., Brightspace/D2L) to enhance course delivery
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities as needed
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development and industry engagement
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the department chair

Course Descriptions:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

A three-part intensive, hands-on course sequence:

  • CCNA-1: Introduction to Networks
  • CCNA-2: Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials
  • CCNA-3: Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation

Prepares students to install, operate, and troubleshoot small enterprise branch networks and complete the CCNA certification.

Cybersecurity Security+ Certification

Covers the five major Security+ domains:

  1. Attacks, Threats, and Vulnerabilities
  2. Architecture and Design
  3. Implementation
  4. Operations and Incident Response
  5. Governance, Risk, and Compliance

Hands-on labs include MCC's networked IIoT devices for an introduction to industrial security.

Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate

Prepares students for SOC analyst roles with skills in:

  • Incident detection and response
  • Security monitoring and analysis
  • Cisco Packet Tracer usage
  • Exam prep for Cisco CyberOps certification

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Relevant industry certifications in one or more of the following areas:
    • Cisco CCNA
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Cisco CyberOps Associate
  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in networking, cybersecurity, or IT operations
  • Demonstrated ability to teach technical subjects effectively to diverse learners
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom and campus environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline
  • Teaching experience at the college or technical training level
  • Proficiency in using LMS platforms (e.g., Brightspace/D2L, Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle)
  • Experience designing or delivering online/hybrid instruction
  • Familiarity with Cisco Packet Tracer, NetAcad, and hands-on lab environments
  • Experience with IIoT or industrial security systems
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently


Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $60 to $80 (based on the course) hourly and is based on these mentioned factors.
