Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients, verify information, and prepare them for examination.
  • Obtain and document patient history, including medical, ocular, and medication information.
  • Measure visual acuity, pupillary responses, intraocular pressure, and perform refraction when required.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, fundus photography, keratometry, and topography.
  • Administer eye drops and topical medications as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain exam rooms, instruments, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and calibration.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, post-procedure care, and use of medications.
  • Document all findings, procedures, and patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Manage patient flow to ensure timely and efficient clinic operations.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing support, and supply inventory as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in ophthalmology or optometry preferred.
  • Proficiency in ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Current certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Assistant (COMT/COA).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
