We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist 3 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Boston, MA or Bedford, NH office.

As a Senior Hydrogeologist 3, you will play a pivotal leadership role in Haley & Aldrich’s (H&A) hydrogeology community. You will be responsible for developing high-quality Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) supported by advanced data visualization. In this role, you will work with our senior technical experts and principals across H&A, driving innovation, visibility, and industry leadership.

You will represent H&A publicly, presenting at technical conferences and authoring publications in peer-reviewed journals, while also collaborating directly with existing and potential clients to foster relationships and expand our service offerings. An important component of your role will be to support and advance the company’s data management and visualization strategy, working closely with a growing team of 2D and 3D modelers and technology specialists to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

  • Lead the execution of project work and proposals on large and/or complex multi-disciplinary projects to align with company-defined business objectives and client expectations in partnership with the project team.
  • Demonstrate strong technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
  • Regularly coach, mentor, and direct staff in the quality execution of projects and preparation of analyses, technical reports, and other deliverables, with a focus on developing skills to support their professional growth.
  • Leverage your learning to increase the technical capabilities of others and the overall technical performance of the company.
  • Excel in your field by engaging with external organizations, delivering internal and external presentations, and contributing to technical publications.
  • Lead the development of geologic site characterization strategies and oversee the implementation of field investigation programs.
  • Lead and oversee the technical evaluation and interpretation of site characterization and hydrogeologic data, develop conceptual site models, oversee fate and transport modeling, and work with other multidisciplinary team members to achieve clients’ goals.
  • Maintain high-level understanding of the current state of the practice in the hydrogeologic discipline and how it relates to other aspects of the project.
  • Lead all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Hydrogeology or related field.
  • 12+ years of related experience.
  • Professional registration or certification, as applicable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Apply emotional intelligence to achieve higher impact on project team and client communications.
  • Ability to develop project execution strategies applying hydrogeologic theories and methods for investigation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Recognized expertise in CSM development and the use of advanced data visualization tools (e.g., EVS, Leapfrog, web-based platforms, etc.).
  • Demonstrated leadership in both internal company initiatives and industry-facing innovation.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with groundwater flow and transport modeling, ArcGIS, Aqtesolv, and R Statistical Software.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
  • Familiarity with developing web-based visualization tools for environmental data.

The salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $140,000 - $160,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
