We are in search of a motivated, experienced, and innovative Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting Team (CAT) team, which primarily operates in a virtual environment but has a strong presence in several hub locations, including Reston – VA, Tucson – AZ, Huntsville - AL and Oak Ridge – TN. As a core member of the CAT team, you will play a valuable part in supporting and executing a wide range of projects and programs. A successful candidate will manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with a team and providing top level customer service. This role will be primarily remote with potential for in-office engagement and training activities.

THE CHALLENGE:
Support the accounting close process, including preparing and recording journal entries, performing analysis, and completion of account reconciliations.
Collaborate with finance stakeholders with the monthly accrual process, ensuring the accruals are sufficiently supported for audit purposes and properly recorded in the ledger.
Respond timely and professionally to the inquiries from finance and other cross-functional teams.
Provide fluctuation analysis and explanations for movements in assigned accounts.
Support ad hoc requests and projects within Operational Accounting and from other stakeholders, such as finance, internal audit, external audit, government compliance, etc.
Participate in the identification and implementation of automation opportunities and process improvements, including Robotics Process Automation, to optimize the monthly close process and reduce manual efforts.
Willingness to volunteer and seek out projects and challenges that will help our customers internally and externally, and also help mitigate risks to Leidos
WHAT SETS YOU APART:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2+ years of experience.
Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Adaptable to a flexible work schedule to accommodate additional hours during surge periods to support the accounting close process.
Self-motivated and willing to independently study concepts and policies with the goal of shortening the learning curve.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with accounting software (Costpoint preferred)
At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience
Knowledge of internal controls and basic audit procedures
