Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Description:
The Peng group at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment and the School of Public and International Affairs is seeking applications for postdoctoral or more senior research associate positions. Dr. Wei Peng's group (www.weipengenergy.com) focuses on modeling institutional and human dimensions of energy transition to identify realistic and robust decarbonization strategies. The appointment will be through the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. The researcher is expected to contribute to projects that aim to model the drivers and impacts of energy transitions across multiple scales. Specifically, the researcher will join a team of energy modelers at the Andlinger Center and partner institutions to couple a global integrated assessment model with a high-resolution subnational energy systems model. By focusing on a few country test cases (e.g., US and South Korea), this multi-scale modeling framework will be used to analyze the interacting drivers for energy decisions across local (e.g. local opposition to energy infrastructure), national (e.g., domestic energy policies), and global scales (e.g., trade and supply chains), along with broader societal impacts on health and employment. Individuals with expertise in relevant modeling methods are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to integrated assessment modeling, energy systems modeling, supply chain modeling, etc. All candidates must have strong, demonstrated research ability, be very comfortable in an interdisciplinary research environment, have excellent English written and spoken communication skills, and possess a PhD in a relevant field. The term of appointment is based on rank. The ideal start date is January 2026 (or earlier), with the latest possible start no later than Summer 2026. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. Salary and full employee benefits are offered in accordance with Princeton University guidelines. Applicants must submit a CV, contact information for three references, and a cover letter describing their areas of expertise and interest. References may be contacted for the candidates who make the shortlist for this position. Applicants must apply online via.: https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/40241. The review of applications will start on October 10, 2025, and will continue until positions are filled. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
