Position Title: Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) Technologist
Position Purpose: Global Dynamics is seeking a qualified and credentialed DEXA Technologist to provide bone density and body composition imaging services at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center. This role supports clinical research and patient care by performing high-quality DEXA scans across a range of anatomical areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Independently perform DEXA scans including:
Peripheral
Femur
Spine
Hips
Whole body composition
Other anatomical areas as requested
Operate and maintain DEXA equipment, adjusting technical factors to accommodate patient condition
Ensure accurate documentation in PACS/RIS and EMR systems
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other technologists to coordinate care
Perform quality control checks and ensure equipment calibration
Adhere to HIPAA, safety, and infection control protocols
Participate in patient scheduling and provide hand-off communication across care teams
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited DEXA technologist program
Licensed, certified, and trained to meet local, state, and federal requirements for DEXA imaging
Ability to work onsite at NIH Bethesda campus (no relocation reimbursement)
Compliance with NIH immunization and health screening requirements:
MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza, Tdap
TB screening (TST or IGRA)
OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen and Universal Precautions training
Credentials
ARRT (DEXA) certification or equivalent recognized credential
Working Conditions and Environment
This position is on-site in a medical facility. Driving may be required.
Physical Requirements
The position requires repetitive motion, such as standing, walking, sitting and bending. Light lifting, up to 20 pounds, may be required.
