Job Summary

Aretum is seeking an accomplished Senior Vice President, DoD Sector to lead our Defense-focused portfolio. This role requires a proven leader with demonstrated success managing a $50M+ sector in the government contracting space, driving both operational excellence and business growth. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in delivery and execution of government programs, connections with Government customers in DOD, and a track record of winning large mission focused and IT contracts, building high-performing teams, helping with solutioning for bids, and expanding customer relationships at the highest levels.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization with Defense work, the leader will be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the DoD sector with full P&L responsibility, overseeing a portfolio eventually exceeding $100M in annual revenue
  • Manage and scale operations across multiple active contracts
  • Ensure alignment of contract execution with Aretum’s mission, quality standards, and compliance frameworks
  • Provide executive leadership to Vice Presidents, Directors, and Program Managers across the sector
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance within delivery and growth teams
  • Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives within the sector
  • Drive sector growth by developing strategies to expand customer footprint, penetrate new markets, and increase contract pipeline
  • Lead capture efforts and proposal development for large-scale opportunities ($50M+)
  • Partner with the Growth/BD organization to shape go-to-market strategy and ensure pricing and staffing alignment
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior Government leaders, including DOD CIOs, DOD CTOs, and mission executives
  • Actively participate in GovCon networking and industry events (expected weekly presence)
  • Serve as a senior executive representative with customers, partners, and subcontractors
  • Serve as a liaison to small business with which the company has JV relationships
  • Manage DOD opportunity pipelines and capture management for multiple bids
  • Oversee program delivery and project management activities, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and compliant performance
  • Drive operational efficiencies across programs while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Ensure adherence to FAR/DFARS, ISO, CMMC, and CMMI requirements in program execution

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Proven experience leading a $50M+ sector within a midsize or large GovCon organization
  • Demonstrated success managing 30+ active contracts, including at least one valued at $50M+
  • Prior experience with full P&L responsibility, including forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
  • Strong background in program/project management for large-scale government delivery projects
  • Track record of business development and capture leadership, including successful awards over $50M
  • Experience leading executive-level teams with multiple Vice Presidents and Directors reporting to you
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience with proposal writing, review and orals to lead winning proposal teams
  • Experience with AI products and solutions
  • Established professional network within the DoD and federal contracting community
  • Proximity to Northern Virginia/DC required; ability to attend weekly industry networking events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD security clearance (Top secret or higher)
  • Experience leading digital transformation, emerging technologies, or mission-focused innovation within DoD programs
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate growth strategy with delivery execution
