Position Overview
The Office Principal (OP) serves as the strategic, operational, and business development leader for Headway's projects in Arizona and the southwest region. This role is accountable for the region's profit and loss (P&L) performance, market growth, client engagement, and staff development.
This is a leadership position for someone who thrives in building high-performing teams, cultivating long-term client relationships, and driving revenue growth. The Office Principal will play a pivotal role in expanding our Arizona/SW footprint by leading business development efforts, supporting strategic hiring, and overseeing project delivery while maintaining Headway Environmental's commitment to quality and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Business Leadership & Financial Management
  • Own P&L accountability for projects tied to the Headway Environmental Arizona PMO, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Establish short- and long-term business objectives aligned with company goals.
  • Monitor project budgets, revenue forecasts, and operational efficiency.
  • Business Development & Client Growth
  • Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new client relationships in the Arizona market.
  • Leverage existing on-call contracts and renewable energy relationships to expand service offerings.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans that position Headway as a market leader.
  • Represent Headway Environmental at conferences, industry events, and client meetings.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of environmental specialists and project managers.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture rooted in innovation and accountability.
  • Recruit top talent to grow technical capabilities and deliver exceptional client service.
  • Provide coaching, training, and career development support to ensure employee retention and growth.
  • Project Oversight & Operational Excellence
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring technical excellence, on-time delivery, and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate across departments and offices to share resources and expertise.
  • Implement operational best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.

  • Revenue growth and profitability of Headway's Arizona PMO.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of consulting experience with increasing responsibilities in business operations and client management.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing professional teams.
  • Proven track record of business development success and driving revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships across multiple sectors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading regional P&L operations within an environmental consulting or engineering firm.
  • Established network of clients in Arizona and the broader Southwest region.
  • Strong understanding of environmental permitting, ecological restoration, and renewable energy markets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
