Position: Visiting Research Scholar - Microeconomic Theory

Description:

The William S. Dietrich II Economic Theory Center of the Department of Economics may have an opening for a Visiting Research Scholar, expected to start in September 2026. Primary criteria are the quality of the applicant's research and interest/experience in microeconomic theory. Visiting Research Scholars spend an academic year in residence at Princeton. They are given office space and the opportunity to pursue their own research on any topic in microeconomic theory. Visiting Research Scholars may participate in the University's teaching program if mutually agreed, with sufficient course enrollments, and with the approval of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty. Visiting Research Scholars must be employed at an institution other than Princeton during their visit. Compensation will depend on the level of support the Visiting Research Scholar will receive from his or her home institution during the visit; the amount that Princeton contributes to the scholar's salary will be determined based upon their salary at the home institution but will normally be at least $75,000. Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent degree. The program is open to all regardless of citizenship, but it does not support work toward the completion of a degree. Applicants should include a c.v., a brief (750 word) research statement, and contact information for two references. Applications will be reviewed beginning December 1, 2025; applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications for the Visiting Research Scholar position must be submitted online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/40282. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. For more information, please refer to: https://economics.princeton.edu/research-centers/the-william-s-dietrich-ii-economic-theory-center/research-programs/.
