Job Summary:
Coordinates and oversees the activities of shipping and receiving to include verifying and maintaining records of incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as preparing items for shipment. Ensures shipping and receiving operations are performed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
Essential Functions:
  • Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, production orders, and related documents to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper condition of shipments.
  • Determine space requirements and positioning of shipments in trucks, and plan load layouts to ensure safe and efficient transport.
  • Verify routing and legal load limits of trucks in accordance with schedules and state weight regulations.
  • Inspect loading operations to confirm compliance with shipping specifications, and seal loaded truck doors.
  • Direct movement of shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to designated storage or work areas.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies with suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate all incoming and outgoing shipments according to assigned dock times.
  • Schedule pick-up appointments with customer logistics departments.
  • Record shipment weights and calculate shipping charges.
  • Manage material flow for commercial customers in line with scheduled dock times.
  • Prepare and issue bills of lading.
  • Maintain accurate time and activity records.
  • Evaluate and standardize procedures to enhance efficiency, equipment performance, and overall product quality.
  • Utilizes Hi-Lo, Hand Jack, or other means to load/unload trucks
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
  • Basic understanding how to process incoming and outgoing shipments, including documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of stock counts, labeling, and storage methods.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets, email, and shipping software (FedEx, UPS, etc.).
  • Able to accurately checking shipments for correct quantities, part numbers, and condition.
  • Able to keep the warehouse area neat, organized, and properly labeled.
  • Able to prioritize tasks to meet shipping deadlines.
  • Able to log shipments, maintaining accurate files, and updating inventory systems.
  • Able to have clear interaction with drivers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Able to identify and report shipment discrepancies or damages quickly.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others and show up consistently and on time.
  • Able to adjust to changes in shipping schedules or priorities.
  • Able to count, measure, and perform simple calculations accurately.
  • Past experience or ability to obtain a Hi-Lo license
Education:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
  • At least 1 year experience in Shipping & Receiving is preferred.
  • At least 1 year experience working within a manufacturing environment required.
Background Prerequisites:
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

  • Visual and auditory acuity to read labels, inspect shipments, and communicate in a busy warehouse environment.
  • Tolerance for varying environmental conditions, such as working in hot, cold, or noisy areas.
