Title: Open Postdoctoral Position
School: Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Department_Area: Rowland Institute at Harvard
Position Description: Applicants are now being considered for a postdoctoral position in the Shi Lab at the Rowland Institute at Harvard (https://www.rowland.harvard.edu/). Our lab's primary focus is on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that drive brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases. We specialize in decoding glycans-complex carbohydrates that decorate our cells and permeate our brain's extracellular environment. Despite their fundamental biological roles, glycans remain one of the most understudied components of neurobiology. We aim to change that using interdisciplinary approaches that combine advanced microscopy (confocal, electron, in vivo multi-photon), viral vectors, protein engineering, mouse models, and multi-omics analyses. understanding how glycans in brain aging and neurodegenerative disease. For further information on the lab, please visit: www.shigroup.org
We invite applications from postdoctoral candidates with backgrounds in neurobiology, glycobiology, immunology, and biochemistry. Applicants will benefit directly from the interdisciplinary core facilities at the Rowland Institute at Harvard and will be encouraged to participate in the Harvard and Boston scientific community. Harvard University postdocs are offered competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits packages.
Basic Qualifications: We invite applications from postdoctoral candidates with backgrounds in neurobiology, glycobiology, immunology, and biochemistry. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with mouse work, surgeries, cloning, microscopy/biological imaging, FACS , bioinformatics, and/or protein biochemistry. A strong publication record in relevant fields demonstrating these skills is highly preferred.
