Per diem position, non-benefited; mainly daytime hours Monday-Friday with flexibility being a requirement due to the nature of this role and the needs of the department; pay based on experience with scale starting no less than $26/hour.  Apply today!

JOB SUMMARY

The Health Educator enhances the quality of life for the people of the community by developing and administering health education programs throughout the lifespan for both young and adult populations.  The Health Educator is responsible for wellness presentations as scheduled and teaching First Aid, CPR and Safesitter Babysitting classes.   

MAJOR JOB FUNCTION

  1. Prepares and executes wellness programs; duties to include giving presentations, health coaching, creating display boards and related handouts.
  2. Plans and teaches First Aid, CPR, BBP training, hazmat training, and babysitting classes.
  3. Assists with HRA screenings.
  4. Facilitates accurate record keeping, billing, and documentation of services provided.
  5. Creates newsletters, brochures and other handouts for presentations and events by using various programs.
  6. Assists with grant projects, community projects, special events within the department, as well as within the hospital and community.
  7. Assists with annual flu shot clinics and health screenings.
  8. Communicates in a timely and appropriate manner with Marketing Director in regards to issues/concerns, needs and progress.
  9. Interacts effectively with customers of all ages through oral and written communication.
  10. Participates in and helps prepare special events to include but not limited to National Night Out, Senior Health & Safety Expo, Women’s and Men’s Health Night(s), and other health fairs.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education, Health-related degree, or graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  2. If RN, current licensure to permit to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin required.
  3. Current certification or eligibility to become BLS certified.
  4. Prior experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.
  3. Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress and with minimal supervision.
  4. Needs to possess a high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.
  5. Must have typing skills, computer knowledge and be proficient with Word and Excel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. The Community Health Educator is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is also required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  2. The Community Health Educator must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
