Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst analyzes costs associated with production, including materials, labor, and overhead. This role combines cost accounting expertise with financial analysis to deliver comprehensive insights that drive efficiency, profitability, and growth. They interpret financial data to identify possible trends or potential problems as well as help prepare budget forecasts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and overhead, to determine product costs and explain variances between standard costs and actual costs.
  • Helps determine overhead and labor costs, helps maintain correct labor coding in the accounting system, and ensures accuracy of cost information.
  • Prepares and analyzes reports on the cost of goods sold, gross margin, percentage of completion, and other relevant financial metrics.
  • Participates in month-end and year-end closing activities related to our manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluates past and present financial data, including financial statements, to understand the company's performance and health.
  • Creates sophisticated financial models to forecast future revenues, expenses, profitability, and the potential outcomes of business decisions.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and identify trends.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.
  • Certified Management Accountant or Certified Public Accountant is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None specifically associated with this position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
