Join us as a Boom Lift Operator.  We’re looking for a safety-focused, reliable Boom Truck Operator to join our team! In this role, you’ll be based in South Bend, IN, and will operate a boom truck to deliver pipe and related products to job sites throughout the Midwest. This is a key position that requires precision, professionalism, and strong customer service.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a boom truck for delivery and placement of building materials and supplies
  • Load, secure, and transport materials from the South Bend branch to job sites across the Midwest
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, inspections, and required paperwork
  • Use boom controls and rigging to safely place materials at job sites (rooftops, upper floors, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and job site crews to ensure accurate and timely deliveries
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and routine maintenance checks
  • Follow DOT regulations and always company safety protocols
  • Assist with warehouse duties or material handling when not on deliveries

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL (Class B minimum, Class A preferred) with clean driving record
  • Boom Truck Certification (ABC) & (NCCCO or equivalent preferred, or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience, preferably with knuckle boom or crane truck operation
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in outdoor environments year-round
  • Knowledge of load securement, rigging techniques, and basic mechanical troubleshooting
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience delivering to construction sites preferred 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands and work environment described below reflect the requirements of a Boom Truck Operator position. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

  • Regularly required to sit in and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods, while also walking, climbing, bending, and using hands and arms to control boom equipment and secure loads.
  • Frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs; occasionally handle loads up to 100 lbs when rigging or assisting with deliveries.
  • Must always maintain focus and alertness to safely operate heavy equipment and perform job functions in high-risk environments.
  • Vision requirements include distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus for safe driving, load placement, and rigging.
  • Work involves regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions year-round, as well as dust, noise, vibrations, and moving mechanical parts.
  • Noise levels can range from moderate to high depending on job site and equipment use.
  • Must pass a substance abuse screening and comply with all DOT and company safety requirements.
