POSITION SUMMARY  

Direct and oversee all technical functions focusing on unscheduled downtime, scrap, mold changes, color changes, resin and color usage, and improvement projects. Ensures the safety of all employees.  Area will be Blow Molding and Stretch Molding.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (other duties may be assigned)

 

  • Partner with Plant Supervisors and Managers to ensure daily challenges, priorities and issues

 

  • Meet daily with offgoing and oncoming supervisors to set priorities and reduce inefficiencies

 

  • Collect and report on daily production data 

 

  • Manages indirect labor, scrap, and downtime to minimize manufacturing variances 

 

  • Give daily visibility on downtime, scrap, changes, and resin deviations.

 

  • Participate in daily labor meetings to identify labor inefficiencies and discuss quality topics

 

  • Work closely with planning to coordinate major tool and machine repairs.

 

  • Partner with engineering, maintenance and operations on process optimization regarding molds, changed overs and machine improvements.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Indirect supervision of Process Techs and Mold Setters.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and retention of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:  High School diploma or general education degree a minim of 5 years related experience in blow molding and maintenance/tooling knowledge, robotics knowledge, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. In lieu of technical degree, certifications are a plus.

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.   Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, such as Mattec and Microsoft Office software such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
