Job Summary
The Research Scientist will serve with principal or co-principal responsibilities for sponsored projects, requiring advanced training and expertise in the relevant scientific discipline. This role involves planning, designing, and leading independent and collaborative research projects; conducting experimental studies; collecting, processing, and analyzing data; and performing complex statistical analyses to ensure the validity and reliability of results. The scientist will operate and maintain specialized scientific equipment, develop and validate new protocols, and contribute to grant writing and proposal development. Responsibilities also include preparing and presenting research findings through scientific conferences and peer-reviewed publications, supervising and training graduate and undergraduate students as well as research staff, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and collaborative laboratory environment through proper training, supply management, and equipment maintenance. The Research Scientist is expected to demonstrate expertise in the field, remain current with scientific literature, and apply new knowledge to advance ongoing and future research programs.
